Happy Valentine's Day!!
Hearts and love are everywhere in February. Not only do most Americans celebrate Valentine's Day but February is also American Heart Month!
Everywhere we look there are heart-themed gifts, candies, goodies and reminders to love those close to us. As a health coach, I want to remind you to also love yourself! It is so easy to shower love on others, especially families, children and close friends, but don’t forget about taking care of yourself too! You deserve the same level of respect and affection that your loved ones do. You also deserve to be the healthiest and best you can possibly be. Anyone that works with me knows that I am passionate about turning your focus to loving yourself! It changes everything.
February is also American Heart Month, which draws our attention to heart disease and how we might prevent this deadly killer. In the US, heart disease is identified as the #1 cause of early death. Did you know that deaths from heart disease also claim more lives each year than all forms of cancer and respiratory disease combined. This statistic is mind boggling in scope.
Yet, for me heart disease is personal. I lost my father to a severe heart attack in 1990 when he was a mere 59 years old! Did this shape me? Absolutely. While this is now 26 years later, my turn towards health coaching was partially decided because of my Dad. Knowing now how I could have helped him fight and reverse his heart disease makes me resolved to help others. Rather than wishing I had the tools back then to help him, I am focusing on you.
Don’t give up because you think that you have a genetic destiny. You don’t. Or that you are so overwhelmed that you can’t see how getting healthy is even possible. It is. Simply, decide that you love yourself enough that you deserve to get started. With the right attitude, information and support, you can be a heart healthy champion and live a long and high quality life.
Share your thoughts and concerns, I’m ready to help.
